Serenity Residential Treatment Home is hiring compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team.

We provide residential care and support to adults living with serious mental illness. Our goal is to help residents develop independent living skills, maintain stability, participate in their communities, and improve their overall quality of life.

We are looking for individuals who are patient, responsible, attentive, and genuinely interested in helping others.

Previous experience in mental health, caregiving, or residential services is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Support and Daily Living Skills

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and daily routines.
• Teach and support independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, and household organization.
• Encourage residents to participate in daily activities, social interactions, and community outings.
• Provide individualized support based on residents' service plans and personal goals.
• Promote independence, dignity, personal choice, and resident rights.

Behavioral Health Support

• Provide a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for adults experiencing mental health challenges.
• Observe and report changes in residents' mood, behavior, or functioning.
• Provide reassurance, redirection, and appropriate emotional support when needed.
• Assist residents in practicing coping strategies and maintaining healthy daily routines.
• Respond appropriately to behavioral health concerns and emergencies.

Medication Support and Documentation

• Assist with medication administration and documentation as authorized and trained.
• Complete accurate daily progress notes, shift reports, and incident reports.
• Document resident participation, staff interventions, and progress toward individualized goals.
• Communicate important updates to supervisors and other team members.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.

Household and Community Support

• Assist with meal preparation, grocery shopping, and household cleaning.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe residential environment.
• Support residents with transportation to appointments and community activities when assigned.
• Encourage participation in recreational and social activities.
• Work cooperatively with other employees to ensure continuity of resident care.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be dependable, professional, and able to work independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to complete accurate documentation.
• Ability to follow written service plans, instructions, and facility procedures.
• Willingness to assist with personal care, household responsibilities, and behavioral health support.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and respect resident confidentiality.
• Must successfully complete required background screening.
• Must complete required training before performing assigned duties independently.
• Ability to work assigned 12-hour shifts, including weekends or holidays as scheduled.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a DSP, Mental Health Technician, Residential Support Specialist, or similar role.
• Experience working with adults with mental health conditions.
• Familiarity with medication administration, crisis intervention, and behavioral health documentation.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Valid driver's license for positions involving resident transportation.
